Donald "Tiny" Davis
Date : 3/9/2007Last name : Davis
First name : Donald "Tiny"
Short Biography : Tiny Davis,
I have known Tiny for many years, probably longer than most of you reading this. For those of you who did not know Tiny in the early years, Tiny was part of the van movement. Tiny was the one that thought it was a great idea to get the Vanners and Mini Truckers to attend the same events. That idea, most of the Vanners did not think was such a great idea. I had the privilege of attending some of those early van runs as a Mini Trucker. The Vanners had a nickname for us Mini Truckers they called us “Puppy Truckers”. That was cool with me because at that time I was their same age but I chose the Mini Truck route instead of the van movement. Sometime in the early 80s, the Vanners were going through some major changes in the scene and the interest was not there. Tiny had decided to get more involved with the Mini Truck movement. I have to say that everyone who knew Tiny knew that he was this guy who walk around with an old bomber hat with plastic plates on it from all the events that he had attended across the country. These tags drug the ground behind him. The Mini Truckers at that time thought he was an event God. Tiny was also known for not wearing shoes no matter how hot or cold it was outside. Which we all told him that he needed to change his lifestyle and start taking better care of himself because he had diabetes. But Tiny was Tiny. Tiny served as Council President for one year and served numerous times as a Council officer in S.C.M.T.C. and S.N.M.T.C.C. One thing about Tiny is that he loved the Mini Truck community. Even as he got sick and his health was going down hill he would always help out at the events. Tiny was always the first person at Reso and West Coast Nationals. He would sit at the front gate in his wheel chair in the bitter cold or the heat of the day to help hand out schedule of events fliers and never complain about it. He just liked to be involved with the events. I think it was just to see everyone and talk about Mini Truck’in, if Tiny started talking it was hard to get him to stop. Tiny also like putting on events like; Spoke- n- Shine which was at Old Frontier Town were it was always fun to put some poor unspecting slob in jail, and yes for some reason Tiny made sure I got put in jail. Those were great times. Tiny also loved having the Mini Truckers involved in the Norco Day Parade. At the parade I think Tiny enjoyed talking about how many people ran over horse poop. It was that kind of humor that Tiny brought to us as Mini Truckers. I know that Tammy and Hatter were probably the closest to Tiny over the past few years, as Tiny’s health has been going down hill. I would like to publicly thank them for being there for Tiny over the past few years. Tiny may have started out as a Vanner but I think he would want to always be remembered as a true Mini Trucker.
